Jharkhand Jalchhajan Yojana (JJY)
JJY is being implemented by JSP in association with the Rural
Development Department, Govt. of Jharkhand at Churchu & Dari block of
Hazaribag District (Jharkhand). JSP has come across to eradicate issues related
to Soil Erosion, Ground Water Level, Agriculture, Barren Lands, etc. In this
context, many watershed structures have been constructed for resolving these
issues such as; Trench Cum Bunds, Water Absorption Trenches, Staggered Contour
Trenches, Field Bunding, Ponds, Earthen Check Dams, and Loose Boulder
Structures. To date, JSP has conserved 442 Lakh liter of water through the
effective Watershed Structures. With this, women are being empowered through
the SHGs and other Community-Based Organizations. Farmer Producer Organizations
are being promoted for achieving the objective of this project.
